For the eighth year CMU produced and managed the Houston Grocery Manufacturers Representative Association Annual Scholarship Awards, held this year at Minute Maid Park. Keynote speaker Houston Mayor Bill White was introduced by Drayton McLane;, owner and CEO of the Houston Astros. The organization, with the support of Houston's leading grocery retailers- Kroger, HEB, Randalls, Fiesta, Gerlands, Market Basket, and Brookshire Brothers -awarded forty scholarships to college bound students in the Greater Houston area as 600 guests looked on. Sponsors for the event included Coca-Cola, Blue Bell Creameries, Borden, Unilever, Anheuser-Busch, Frito-Lay, Kraft Foods, and Dreyers Grand Ice Cream. Scholarships were awarded by Astro players Miguel Tejada and Michael Burn. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a private dinner and reserved seats for the game, Astros vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers. |

Attendees from over 25 countries donned their native garb for an International Night dinner party in Washington DC that engaged the entire lobby, mezzanine, and meeting space of the Westfields Marriott Conference Center. Food and beverage displays highlighted international cuisine featuring buffets from the Middle East, Asia, Egypt, UK, Latin America, Turkey, and the United States. Entertainment included an African band, sitar player, Indonesian dancers, Chinese paper cutter, jazz trio from Azerbaijan, Caribbean steel drum band, English Buckingham Palace guards, Mystic Warrior Musicians from the Andes, and Algerian musicians, and an Alaskan totem pole carver. |

In celebration of its 100th Anniversary, CMU helped ANICO treat 8,000 employees and their family members to Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas for a full day of food, fun, entertainment, activities, park attractions, and a giant Easter Egg Hunt for 2,700 children! |
